News
OCCBIO invites researchers in the broad area of bioinformatics to submit their unpublished work to the conference. The conference proceedings will be indexed.

Overview
The 4th Annual Ohio Collaborative Conference on Bioinformatics (OCCBIO 2009) will be held at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA. The conference provides an interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of methods, research findings, and experiences in the area of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. An important goal for the conference is to foster long-term collaborative relationships and networking opportunities within the domain of computational approaches to biology that benefit Ohio.

Papers reporting on original research (both theoretical and experimental), including significant work in progress, in all areas of bioinformatics are sought. Typical (but not exclusive) topics of interest include:

  • Biological databases and data management
  • Biological networks and Systems biology
  • Clinical & Translational applications of Bioinformatics
  • Computational Structural biology
  • Data mining and visualization
  • Gene expression and Transcriptomics
  • Gene and Protein sequence analysis
  • Image analysis
  • Molecular evolution and phylogenetics
  • Ontologies
  • Plant and animal genomics
  • Population genetics and human variation analysis
  • Protein Interactions & Networks
  • Protein modifications and glycoproteomics
  • Statistical analysis of high-throughput data
  • Systems Neuroscience
  • Sequencing and genotyping technologies
  • Software systems for Bioinformatics

Papers submitted for review should represent original, previously unpublished work.  At the time the extended abstract is submitted to OCCBIO, and for the entire review period, the paper (or essentially the same paper) should not be under review by any other conferences with published proceedings or by scientific journals.

Publication
Two or more experts will evaluate each submission and a selected number (likely 30-35) will be accepted for presentation at the conference.  Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, which will be available at the conference and disseminated by IEEE. Papers not accepted will be encouraged to present their work in appropriate posters sessions at the conference.

Manuscript preparation
A manuscript should consist of abstract, introduction, materials and methods, conclusion and discussions. The page limit of submitted papers is six. The manuscript should be easy to read, using at least 11 point font size on US standard 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper. An email address for the contact author should be included.

When submitting please use the format of IEEE conference proceedings and templates that can be found here.

Paper submission procedures
Submission of papers to OCCBIO2009 will be through the EasyChair conference system at http://www.easychair.org
