Workshop
Workshop 1: An Ohio Bioinformatics Curriculum. Steve Gordon, Ohio Supercomputer Center/Ralph Regula School of Computational Science, Senior Director of Education and Client Support, and Zhong-hui Duan, University of Akron, Associate Professor, Computer Science
This workshop will provide an overview of the process to create a joint bioinformatics curriculum based on the model of the minor program for the Ralph Regula School of Computational Science. Commonalities found across bioinformatics courses around the state based on a preliminary review of syllabi will be reviewed. The results of an initial questionnaire on the competencies required for the undergraduate degree will be provided.
The workshop will include five minute overviews of current bioinformatics programs presented by these participants.
