Arthur Zucker

Biosketch:  Before coming to Ohio University in 1985, Zucker taught medical ethics, philosophy of medicine and history of genetics in the Dept. of Humanities at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Hershey, Pa.

At Ohio University, where Zucker is currently Chair of Philosophy and Director of the Institute for Applied and Professional Ethics, he has taught ethics, philosophy of science and courses on Freud and Psychoanalysis, and Philosophy of Biology.  Zucker has taught medical ethics both in the Department of Philosophy and in the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University. 

Zucker has been an editor of the section "Law and Ethics" for the journal, Death Studies since 1984.  He has published articles and book chapters in the areas of medical ethics and philosophy of science.  Among his publications are four textbooks with Prentice Hall, book chapters and journal articles.  His most recent publications are two entries (Medical Ethics and Philosophy of Medicine) in the 2006 edition of the Encyclopedia of Philosophy (Macmillan).  He is presently writing Philosophy of Biology, for the Prentice Hall series, The Foundations of Philosophy.

His degrees are from Rutgers (Undergraduate, BA) Wisconsin at Madison (Graduate, MA) and Minnesota (Graduate, Ph.D.).
